Fencing is probably something most people know from movies, and few have encountered it.
You don't see fencing in the schools (yet), and fencing is often shown in the television late night. But fencing is a sport for everyone!
Fencing is based on team training and it is a very social sport, as you know from many other sports, but it is also extremely individual.
When team fights are being fought, there are two fighters per match - each with its own technique and special tricks.
The team match really manage to play on all strings.
About the training:
Our regular training takes place Mondays and Wednesdays. The children/youth team training takes place from 17:00 to 19:00 and the adult team trains from 18:00 to 21:00 on Mondays and 18:00-20:00 on Wednesdays. Beginners are welcome to participate in the training these days, and there will be an instructor who takes care of them.In addition, we have a training on Fridays from 17:00 to 19:00. This refers to those with enough experience to stand on their own. You will here be responsible for your own training, while our fencing master give lessons to the attendants.
We train in the small halls at “Aarhus Statsgymnasium”, and we have a club room In the building next to the hall. Together with the halls there is access to changing room, baths and toilets. In the club room there is acces a small tea-kitchen, fridge, sofa arrangement and WiFi. Below is a map of the training site and the rooms we are using. There are several entrances to the halls but it is important that only the marked entry is used.
What does it take for me to participate in training?
In JAF you can try fencing for one month for free. Fencing can be a physically and mentally challenging sport, but it's also a sport that everyone can participate in, evolve in and enjoy. We expect people to bring indoor shoes, sportswear (specifically long sports trousers) and finally a drinking bottle. We will supply the equipment in the beginning, but it is expected that you will acquire your own over time. If you arrive by car, you should not park in the parking lot at the school. It is often closed and locked at 19:00, so we recommend that you park along Fenrisvej (beside the club room).
